Boost IT security by making it a game
By Ian GRAYSON
Of all the hot topics currently bubbling away in the world of business, one of the more interesting is gamification.
Gamification involves integrating some of the dynamics of computer games into business software and processes. The logic is that, if people are rewarded for certain behaviours as they are in a game, their performance will improve.
The concept is being put to work to encourage staff to do everything from properly logging customer details in a database to getting their expense reports in on time.
Now companies are putting the concept to work to improve their security.
Staff are being given game-like incentives to keep an eye out for suspicious behaviour, strange emails and odd requests for data.
The companies figure that the more keen eyes you have on the job the better. If turning it into a game improves things, why not?
Would turning IT security into a game work inside your organisation?
