One of the challenges faced by successful social media properties is the need to make money. Facebook has played it smart by offering ads that are targeted to visitors. When you first visit Facebook Lite you’ll be stunned at how fast it loads. Even on a 3G connection it was up and running in about a second. All that you have on the screen are your feed of updates from friends, the “People You May Know” panel and a small notification are for pending messages. There’s no chat client, “Highlights” or applications. It’s a very clean, almost spartan, interface.
