I am the Cable Guy. And wish I wasn't ...
By David HAGUE
In my opinion, the bane of the computer industry and anyone that deals with computers is the cable. If anyone can design a system that removes cables from the PC equation, they will make a fortune.
Yes I know WiFi is starting to become all pervasive, but I learnt over the last two days that if the PC and cabling is the 21 year old, WiFi is at around 3 weeks of age.
I have just moved and had to break down my system and rebuild it in the new location. My PC setup is not that far from the ordinary in business with the possible exception of having a PS3, XBOX and Wii as part of the overall configuration along with a 40” Sony Bravia. I also have a number of external USB hard drives and a single Firewire drive plus connections to Firewire video cameras.
It sounds quite simple in principle, but bugger me, to wire the whole lot back up took over 5 hours!
So if you do know of a better way, have an answer to easily label 12v type power supplies so they can be easily matched to their device or any other tricks, please let me know!

They're also useful for labeling cables generally (eg, so you can tell which mains plug is which).
There are bound to be other brands and stockists (possibly better/cheaper for all I know) but I thought a specific suggestion would be the most helpful.
I couldn't find them at the Bunnings site, so here's a link to show what I mean: http://www.4cabling.com.au/products/-Marker-Cable-Ties-Large.html
